I am Sabah, a certified full spectrum doula and acupressure therapist based in Beaufort, Victoria, supporting women across the Pyrenees, Ballarat and Grampians region through every stage of the motherhood journey.

My path to this work was not a straight line. I spent almost two decades working as a mechanical engineer across multiple industries, developing a deep understanding of how systems move, how forces interact, how structure and function shape each other. Alongside that, I travelled. I lived within different cultures, witnessed how communities hold women through birth and the passage into motherhood, and began to understand how much of that wisdom the Western model of care has quietly set aside.

At some point those two threads, the precision of engineering and the depth of what I had witnessed in the world, converged into something I could no longer ignore. It became clear that supporting women through one of the most significant transitions of their lives was not a detour from my path. It was the path.

When I encountered birth work, something clicked that I did not expect. The same principles I had applied to complex mechanical systems were present in the labouring body. The pelvis, the baby, the forces of labour, the way position and movement change outcomes. Engineering and birth, it turned out, were not as far apart as they seemed.

My practice is rooted in the philosophy of matrescence, the profound transformation of becoming a mother that begins long before birth and deserves to be held with knowledge, presence and genuine respect. I offer full spectrum doula support from pre-conception through postpartum, alongside acupressure therapy woven through every stage of the journey. I also facilitate The Mother's Village, a monthly gathering circle for women navigating the motherhood journey in the Beaufort area.

What I bring into the birth room is precision and warmth in equal measure. The ability to read what a body is doing and respond with intention. The steadiness that comes from years of working in complex, high pressure environments where attention to detail changes outcomes. A deep grounding in the philosophy of matrescence and what it means to hold a woman through genuine transformation. And the conviction that every woman in labour deserves someone beside her who is fully present, fully informed and not guessing.

I am available for in-person support across the Pyrenees, Ballarat and Grampians region, and remotely for women further afield.
