I am the mother of two boys - 10 and 7. I have experienced labour up until 9cm, I have experienced an emergency caesarean, I have experienced a planned caesarean, I have experienced expressing breast milk, bottle feeding and I have experienced breastfeeding. I have experienced two very different pregnancy and birth journeys and believe that sharing this knowledge with other expectant mothers can provide comfort and support.
What made me want to become a Doula?
My postpartum period after both of our boys were born, was quite difficult. I was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition known as Parsonage Turner Syndrome which took 2 years to recover from, after both births and with this came quite debilitating postpartum anxiety. I feel extremely blessed to have my two happy and healthy boys, and while I would love to have another baby, we have made the decision to not put myself or my family through that again. The reason I became a Doula is so that I can help other Mums and their families through what is undoubtedly an incredible time, but also not always such an easy one. We all just need a little kindness and a little help sometimes, especially in the early days after baby arrives.
I have grown up in the Riverina area - from Goolgowi, to Hillston, to Griffith, with that comes a knowledge of our local area and services. Prior to commencing my Doula studies, I worked in the Disability Employment sector for 14 years. This was such a rewarding part of my career where I was able to build a strong work ethic, build empathy and learn vital support skills.
I offer the following supports:
Preparing for Birth Package Feel empowered with knowledge and education leading up to your birth. Postpartum Support Package For practical, hands-on, in home help after baby arrives. The Whole Experience Support during your pregnancy, the entirety of your birth and into your postpartum. Sibling Support Package Care for older children during labour when your support network is limited. Placental Remedy Packages Honour your journey and support postpartum recovery. One-Off Support Sessions Flexible and personalised support, exactly when you need it most. Equipment Hire Affordable hire of pregnancy and postpartum equipment to make your journey a little easier.
Well, that’s enough from me for now! Please help to spread the word about Doula supports for women and their families in our area!
