Hey there,
My name is Madeleine. I am a Melbourne based doula and childbirth educator, a registered nurse, and mama to my son.
I am passionate about guiding women to their own intuition and power, so they feel prepared to tackle any challenge that come their way as they make the transition from pregnancy to matrescence.
I tailor my support to each individual, so the mothers can find the education, nurturing, nourishment and guidance they desire.
Pregnancy support involves working together to pave your own path to the birth you desire, and to help you to feel informed, prepared, and in tune with your body and intuition. We will do this by exploring your beliefs around birth, becoming aligned with and trusting your body, how to make informed decisions that you feel good about, informed consent, how to prepare for labour, natural comfort measures, and more childbirth education. The goal is for you to feel empowered by your knowledge and preparation, and at ease as you surrender to the process of labour and birth.
We will also plan for your postpartum, to ensure a smooth transition and that everything is ready so you can just enjoy your newborn bubble. We can make plans surrounding meals, boundaries, support from family and friends, support for older children, education and preparation for breastfeeding, and other postpartum necessities.
Birth support will look different for everyone, and will involve my being close by in case you need me. Emotional and mental support may include holding space for you, reassurance, encouragement, affirmations, or guiding you back to your own power if you become overwhelmed. Physical support may looks like assisting you with labour positions, counter-pressure, . Logistical support may involve helping your partner maintain a calm birthing environment, traffic control, taking photos, setting up your birth space, keeping you fed and hydrated while you labour, or helping facilitate communication between you and medical providers. Informational support may look like answering questions during your labour, or suggesting questions for you to ask when making decisions. Partner support may involve tag teaming so your partner can rest, reminding them of comfort measures you’d planned to use, answering any questions they may have, and helping them to support you however you both want that support.
Once baby arrives I will support you until you’re comfortable for me to leave, or until you go to the maternity ward. I can offer to hold space while you breastfeed and assist if desired, helping you to freshen up, ensuring you and partner are fed, answering any questions, and any other support you may need.
As you’ve now transitioned into a newborn mother, I can continue to provide continuity of care that may be lacking from society. We can put into place the works of our postpartum planning, and I can hold space for you in this time and provide the support you need. This may include discussing any concerns you have, answering your questions, debriefing your birth, light errands or housework, cooking you nutritious meals, assisting with breastfeeding, or whatever you feel you need. I can connect you with any other resources or professionals you need to join your village.
Support from me, although looks different to everyone, will include nurturing, education and guidance. I will join your village and bring you continuity of care. I will support you, how you want to feel supported. I will help you to trust your intuition, and guide you back to your own power.
Kindly by,
Mads xx
